If the NVQ/SVQ exemption does not apply to you, you will need to take the JIB Plumbing and Gas or CITB Operatives or Specialist Category Health & Safety awareness test.

To book your test you will need to call Thompson Prometric 0870 600 4020, who will issue you with a registration number and book your test

if you already have a registration number you can book on line at www.citb-constructionskills.co.uk.

Operatives who have special learing requirements should call 0870 241 0204.

The cost of the test is £17.50. A Question & Answer Health & Safety Book or CD is available to help you prepare for the test. Both products are available when you book your Health & Safety test. They are also available from a variety of high street book shops and online.

It is strongly recommended that you purchase either book or CD. Evidence suggests a high pass rate amongst those who familiarise themselves with the test.

Once your test has been booked you will be sent a letter confirming the category of your test, time and location of the test. Make sure all the details are correct.

Important Note: Two Year Rule

The pass letter is valid for two years, if you do not apply for your JIB-PMES CSCS Registration Card within the two years you will have to re-sit the Health & Safety test. This is to ensure that the applicant’s Health & Safety awareness/knowledge is up-todate.
